Reliability of X-ray Diagnosis in Biliary Tract Diseases Among Koreans

Abstract
|
|
|
Radiological approach is one of the most important method of diagnosing biliary tract diseases. And yet, the X-rays are not always successful and sometimes it is misleading. Such limited reliability is even more evident among Korean populations. And possible reasons for this is postulated as follows:
1. High incidence of non-visualization on oral cholecystogram.
2. Difference in common location of gall stones.
3. Poor working schedule of gall bladder among Koreans due to dietary difference.
4. High incidence of impaired intestinal absorption and transportation, and the high incidence of impaired liver function.
5. parasite factors.
Importance of clinical judgement is again emphasized, sometimes against X-ray findings.
